Hello people. Time to share something amazing that happened to me just before xmas. Before starting this painting of Bill, I had contacted the Gallagher group asking if they knew who took the photo I was referencing. Months later being the Mon before xmas, while looking through old emails i figured I’d send them a photo of the finished painting. I said due to a growing family some of my art may come up for sale & if interested they could have first dibs on it as i’d always love my work to go to where it means the most. Within the hr i received this reply… We would be delighted to own this painting - I am unable to gauge what the value of this would be but I am happy to offer $10,000. Please let me know if that suits you - if so we can finalise the deal this week as we close down on friday .
I sent the painting the next day & it was presented to Bill’s son, Sir William Gallagher as a gift from the companies staff to celebrate their 75th anniversary. As you can well imagine, a situation this surreal is slightly overwhelming but also what dreams are made of, add to that the arrival of my 3rd child Buddy on Jan30 & life is unbelievably good . Thanks to all for the support so far & looking forward to seeing what 2014 brings.

About:

I'm a stay-at-home father of two young children, I have painted on the grip of the skateboards I've ridden for nearly 20yrs. At first I used white out pen smudged with my thumb to create my images. Then I naturally moved onto stenciling and every time I got a new board refined my method.
I hand cut multiple stencils, only white spray paint is used with the amount applied dictating the grey scale. The framed works are on a similar non-slip industrial product to skategrip that has a matte black finish & a larger size capacity. I really enjoy the depth it creates, which I like to think of as a modern B&W alternative to the velvet painting..
thanks for the support..
